Homework Basics

Every Monday your child will receive two packets that they will complete for homework.  One packet is composed of practice worksheets that reinforce our weekly lessons.  The other packet consists of assignments to encourage parent/child connections at home.  These you will complete with your child.

In addition to the packets, we will also send a printable book home that should be read with your child.  These books will have a greater impact on their reading readiness if read more than once.  The more words a child sees repeatedly, the quicker they will be able to recognize those words in later readings.  Please take the time to document all of the books you are reading with your child in the reading log.

You will also find spelling word flashcards that we will continue adding to every week.  By the end of the year they will have the complete set of kindergarten dolch/sight words that are so critical when learning how to read.

Your child will be graded on timeliness, accuracy and neatness.  Please encourage proper letter/number writing, neat handwriting and completion of homework.

Any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact me.
