Please do not forget to turn in all permission slips and money for our field trip on Thursday. Your child will not be able to join us if we don't have those items. Also, those children that ended in their day on orange or red the days leading up to field trip day, must stay home. Thank you to those parents who have volunteered their time to chaperone. You can meet us at school by 9:15 am for our 9:30 am departure.
DIBELS UPDATE: Our class will do DIBELS assessments on Wednesday, May 16th and Thursday, May 17th. We had to switch days with Ms. Neuman's class to accommodate a conflict in her schedule. Please make sure your child is rested and ready!
Happy Mother's Day to all you wonderful mothers! Because of you, our class is full of love and life that the children bring in with them every morning. Thank you for all you do in making your child who they are!
Congratulations to Tyonna Butler, this week's Student of the Week. Tyonna's dimpled smile brings warmth and fun to the classroom - she is a star in the making!

Week 21
Remember: tomorrow will begin our mid-year DIBELS testing. Your child will be assessed in four different areas including phenome segmentation, nonsense word, initial sound fluency and letter recognition. Next week we will continue our testing and finish up with the reading portion. Please make sure your child comes to school rested and energized.
I want to encourage you to reiterate to your child the rules and procedures we expect in the classroom. You may have noticed the number of purple and blue days have diminished some the last few weeks and this is due to a decline in overall classroom behavior. Each child should strive to go beyond green and demonstrate exceptional behavior rather than settling for "pretty good." I would like to see an increase in our good and outstanding days!
Looking ahead to Valentine's Day - we will have a small celebration where the children can exchange cards and treats. I will also bring in some goodies as well. If you will be sending candies, please no gum.
This week we honored Amaris Holt-Wilson as Student of the Week. He has already started the week off with a purple, so he is already demonstrating why he deserves the honor. Congratulations to Amaris!
